Geriatric ward doctors and nurses probably have many of these types of stories. There have been lots of books written about near-death experiences and anyone who has had a loved one die can also tell their own stories about witnessing “different” behavior of a loved one close to death.

I got on the bus yesterday and the driver, Kathleen, was there. I had not seen her for a couple of months so I asked her how she was. The last time I had seen her she told me that she had been visiting her brother in the hospital a lot but never discussed his condition. I asked her how her brother was. I don’t usually talk much to drivers other than hi-bye but Kathleen speaks English so I have spoken to her more. I hit the “on button” when I asked about her brother.

She proceeded to tell me that he had died and then poured out her heart describing the last few days of his life. She loved him very much and would visit him daily, often staying over night to be with him. She told me that a few days before he died he would point his finger to the ceiling and ask if she could see Mama or Uncle Gilles or whoever. All the people he asked about were dead. Kathleen would just calmly tell him that she did not see them.

One morning she got to the hospital and he told her that he had spent the whole night with his cat, Mimille, who he loved dearly and was also not living. He said she slept on his bed with him and he petted her as she purred all night.

Her brother was unable to walk because of his advanced condition or even raise himself out of bed. She described to me that a few hours before he died he started to get very agitated and was trying to get up from the bed. He was very upset with Kathleen saying to her, while pointing up to the ceiling,

“Don’t you see them. They are waiting for me. I have to go. Help me up. They’re standing there in the light.”

Kathleen and the nurse kept trying to settle him down, holding him in bed as he was struggling to get up. They gave him shots of sedatives that had no effect on him. Finally they gave him enough that he stopped struggling and died 20 minutes later.

A pretty familiar story for anyone who has had the experience with watching a person die.

With Overlight there is a segment that works with people who are dying. Helping them with the fear that many experience surrounding this transition. I also know that there is one person that we designate before we come into a lifetime that agrees to be there when we pass. They also agree to give us “permission” to leave. It is a sacred contract that we have all made. It can be anyone. A nurse, a son or daughter, or in Kathleen’s case, a sister. Many will fight death until they receive that “permission.” Permission may sound like a weird word to use but that is in essence what happens. Even though it may not be spoken that way.

I asked Kathleen if she gave him permission to leave? She stopped talking, looked at me straight in the eye and said,

“Yes, I did.”

She was the only one present when he died. His wife and other family members lived in a nearby town and Kathleen could feel his death was coming but was unable to reach them before he died.

Now that, for me, was very cool stuff. Not only that she opened up to me like that but that her description of her brother’s behavior was another example of us being eternal beings. He knew he had to go. He knew where he was going. Her brother’s soul was fully present for her to connect with and I know she did.

Why do I keep talking about our real self? Like this post or this one. Because I want to give you some real life examples. Not just flowery words and concepts that sound nice but are too abstract to relate to.

Plus, I love to connect to anothers real self. Heart to heart. Soul to soul. Kathleen gave me that feeling. That connection. I knew that she had also experienced it with her brother. That kind of stuff juices me up.(weird huh? bet you thought it was girls)

I am not sure how anyone can believe that we’re born, we die, end of story. Anyone who has been present during a person’s death and who really opens their eyes to observe what happens can take away from that experience, if they didn’t know already, a belief that there has to be more to the story. Often witnessing the death of a loved one can be a life altering event that opens us up to a wider perspective on life and on who we truly are.

Death is not an end. We are eternal. We are just changing form. We’re leaving our bodies behind and returning to our true state. If we eliminate our ingrained fear of death and know that we are not our bodies but our true self is our soul, then the transition of the soul can be a glorious event. It can be a celebration of our return to home.

Our soul is formless. Our soul is energy and energy can’t die. Having this knowledge sure makes living each day a lot sweeter and easier. In the next age we will know that we can live each day with the knowledge that the story never ends.

I talk about humanity evolving to the next level of consciousness. Changing from a paradigm of “follow the leader” to one of “following yourself.” I have also said that it will take all of us to make this change happen. There has been a lot of global changes in the last 50 years that I can look at and use as examples of humanity becoming more unified.  The world waking up to the remembrance of who we truly are. I haven’t given much thought or consideration to a full 20% of our population when it comes to accomplishing this shift. China is virtually the last bastion of Communism in the world. Communism is an example of a population following the leader. I have to include them in my picture of unity and self-empowerment for us all.

Starting on August 8th the world’s attention will be centered in China. They have obvious population and economic influence in today’s world but can they also be a catalyst for change and help bring on the shift that I call the New Age? Is Falun Gong the key to this change?

In 2000, along with my complete shift in perspective, I was also having changes happening in my body. My body was communicating to me or maybe I was finally listening. All day long I would be stretching unconsciously. I had an amazing amount of energy or chi that was flowing through me. My body would show me where I would need to stretch to release any blocks that I had. I am sure it looked strange but probably overshadowed by the words and concepts that were spewing from my mouth.

The feeling was similar to when we wake up in the morning and need to stretch. Looking back, it is probably the same thing, only I was waking up to a whole new me and I did it all day long. This impulse to stretch led me to look at Tai Chi and Yoga but when I discovered Falun Gong I knew that was going to work for me at that time.

Falun Gong is a traditional Chinese spiritual discipline that is Buddhist in nature. It consists of moral teachings, a meditation, four gentle stretching exercises that resemble tai-chi and are known in Chinese culture as qigong. It’s teachings include the harmonizing of our body, mind and spirit to obtain balance and health. Another key part for me in the philosophy was the recognition and return to our original true self. It’s about taking responsibility for one’s self and behaving in a way that embodies truthfulness, benevolence and forbearance. Practitioners describe these qualities to be universal principles that we should all strive for. It fit perfectly at the time for what I believed and what I was experiencing with my body changes as a way to allow the chi to flow freely.

The practice of Falun Gong or Falun Dafa was, and still is, for me, an amazing system for stimulating free flowing life force and experiencing still-mind meditation. It is also an effective practice for anyone who is interested in alternative ways to maintain body conditioning. It is now practiced by millions in some 70 countries outside of China which is a testament to it’s validity.

What I see with Falun Gong relative to China is that it can be used as a wake up call for a population that has been under the thumb of a repressive government for a long time. Something needs to happen to shake things up. Maybe it’s Falun Gong. Maybe it’s the Olympics.

Falun Gong became so popular in China that the government felt it threatened their continuing hold on the population.

This practice is centuries old and was handed down from single master to single disciple until 1992 when Li Hongzhi, the “master” of Falun Gong brought it to the public. He introduced not only the exercises, but the teachings that accompany it, which are messages of enlightenment and awakening. The popularity soared to 70 million practitioners until 1999 when the government out of fear or possibly jealousy of it’s popularity, began to imprison and persecute followers of Falun Gong. Some Party leaders saw Falun Gong, with its belief in the existence of Buddhas, Daos, and gods, and its conviction that anyone can reach a divine realm through self-refinement, as being in conflict with Party ideology. These struggles have been well documented since 1999 and the subject of human rights violations of the Chinese government.

Will these Olympic Games help change that? They seem to be showing some signs of change. Will it be just for the sake of the games after which it will be life as usual or will they bring about real change? We are all in this together. We need the billion plus people of China to wake up. To unite in this shift. To join in the awakening to the next age. The world is visiting this month. Can we help?

If Falun Gong is meant to survive in China, it will. Is it the catalyst for change in China? I have a feeling it is. All I can do is use my small voice to help spur it along but unfortunately my voice won’t be heard.

I don’t watch TV so I really didn’t know much about Oprah other than I knew she is wildly popular and makes a skid billion dollars a year. I had no idea that she has awoken to the truth of who she really is. If anyone reading this doesn’t know, I have written many articles about the awakening of humanity to the next age of our evolution. You may also know that I believe it is happening right now.

Since I awoke in 2000, I have read lots of “new age” books about this subject from authors like Gregg Braden, Lee Carroll, Steve Rother, Geoff Hoppe and many more. I have recently read a book by Eckhart Tolle called “The New Earth.” He had previously written a bestseller called “The Power Of Now.”

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle is an amazing resource for anyone who, as I call it, has awoken or is in the process of waking up, He explains things in a simple straightforward way that many will be able to relate too as is my intention here on the Next Age.

Obviously Oprah must agree with me because she is doing a 10 week study course delivered by web cast to anyone who goes to Oprah.com and signs up for it. There is no cost and even though they just aired the 7th episode you can catch up by viewing all the previous web casts.

Of course reading the book helps to understand the concepts but you also have to have an interest in hearing the information. You will know by watching just a small amount of it whether it is the time for you to remember who you truly are or whether you have to leave it and label it as “crazy talk” as I am sure many will do. There is no judgment in disregarding this information because from my perspective it is only a matter of time before we all wake up. As Eckhart says there is only one purpose for all humans right now and that is to awaken to the essence of your eternal self.

You have heard me say that many times if you have read my posts. Now I am hearing what I consider to be a major, major, mainstream societal figure like Oprah talk the same way as I do about the only subject that really matters to me. I am so passionate about this stuff and my life is so filled with fun, joy and inner peace right now that my wish is to help others enjoy the same. Finding out Oprah is on the same wavelength was awesome for me. With this program she is doing so much to help at least start to think about how things can and will be on a “New Earth.”

Oprah has such massive appeal and she can reach so many hearts that she may be able to give them the nudge that they need to accept these concepts as being valid and real. Being on the same team as Oprah is very exciting for me. Seeing this information being spread to so many that may not have had any interest before, uplifts me and solidifies my intent to keep it up.

Now you Oprah fans may be saying “Oprah has talked like this for a long time.” I wouldn’t doubt that to be true but to have a man like Eckhart Tolle, who in my estimation is one of the best at explaining this stuff, and to give him so much exposure makes we want to jump through the screen and embrace Oprah with gratitude. To have her spearheading this just adds to my confidence that the next age human is emerging right now.

There are many names for the entity that I am describing. God self – Higher self – Spirit – Soul. Aboriginal cultures have described this for centuries as your lower self being human and your higher self being spirit. Lots of labels but all describing the same thing. I will call it our god self for the purpose of these descriptions.

When our actions or words are being controlled by our god self we are considered to be in the flow. Athletes call it the zone. It is where everything just falls into place and we follow along without even having to put  thought or energy into what we are doing. It is a place where time means nothing and all that matters is what we are doing at that moment. It is always a situation where we are doing something that we are passionate about. It is that passion or emotion that brings out our god self. It can be anything. It can be at times of so-called tragedy or times of exhilarating personal accomplishments. The key is passion. When we are doing something we are passionate about the words and actions just flow. The reason that this happens is because we are god with limitless ability to create. Have you felt that feeling before?

When we are in the flow of creation, everything comes easy. Words flow out of our hearts to the extent that if you are conscious of this happening you can tell when your god self is, as I call it, front and center. I know I can feel it. I can recognize it in myself and I can also recognize when my words or actions are controlled by my human self. Things go so much smoother when I am speaking and acting from my higher self. I can also recognize this distinction in others.

Musicians, for example have a lot of practice at operating from their god self. When I hear the sounds come straight from their hearts I know I am hearing the god within them. Ask any musician what that feels like. I have heard many say that they live to perform. That’s because they feel whole when they are in that zone. It is the same for artists or writers. They have more experience with showing their god selves which is why they are labeled as “creative” people. This is also why we as humans love to witness creative people in action. We subconsciously recognize that we are witnessing god in action.

Professional athletes are another example of humans operating from their god selves. Sometimes there is super human feats on the field or court that defy explanation. I love to watch the final game of any sport whether it the World Series or the Super Bowl or whatever. I love to watch the post game celebrations. The excitement and passion that is shown by the participants are more examples of the presence of god within. The excitement and passion that is generated from athletic endeavors of any kind makes me feel it. Anyone who has experienced these feelings of being in the zone will understand what I am saying. They will say they are on auto-pilot. Unthinking. Just letting things flow naturally. That is their god self at the helm.

I love to recognize the god within us. I will cry when I see a demonstration of it. It is an automatic reflex for me. It is a recognition of god that automatically brings tears to my eyes. Not tears of sadness but tears of joy knowing that I have, once again, witnessed god in action. I remember watching Tiger Woods being interviewed after he won one of his US Opens. He hadn’t won a tournament in a while and he came on in the final round to win. I looked at him on the TV and automatically started tearing up. I could see god within him with such intensity that the tears within me just flowed instantly. What a great feeling for me and I am sure for him also.

This teary feeling may not happen for everyone but I am sure I am not the only one this happens to. You may not realize that this is why you have shed a tear but watch for it. This is one sure way for me to feel the presence of someone’s god self.

These experiences of operating from your god within are not reserved for “special” people. Everyone has or will experience this feeling sometime in their life. It doesn’t matter who you are. Everyone has something they are passionate about. It is at these times of passion that your true self will be revealed. You may even say to yourself after,

“I can’t believe I said that or can’t believe I did that.”

These are the times when our normal human fears and doubts about our worth or abilities are forgotten and we operate from our higher self. I know this to be true because I know that we are god. It only takes the belief in this to recognize god within each and every one of us.

We we are in the flow. When our creative juices are running. When we feel invincible. When we feel love for all things. When we witness a scene in nature that is breathtaking. When we have those feelings of how good it is to be alive. These are the times when our god self is present and recognizable. At least for me. However one describes these feelings doesn’t matter. To me, it is validation of my belief that god is within us. Will you look for it? Can you see god within that homeless person? Can you look deep into the eyes of another and feel the presence of god? God is there at all times, not just the time of heightened emotion or passion.

In Next Age News I want to show you real life examples to demonstrate these concepts. This video is an example of the difference between our human selves and our god selves. We all have these abilities. All it takes is for us to recognize that we are god. The next step is to be in constant connection with the god within us and to act like the truly spiritual beings that we are.

This has become quite a famous video now but I saw it about a week after it happened live. It is Paul Potts. the winner of Britain’s Got Talent. If you don’t know him he was an very ordinary guy. A cell phone salesman that appeared to be a very shy person will little self-confidence. He was competing in the English equivalent of American Idol. He sang opera.

The first time he sang he came on stage in an ill fitting suit. His human self walked on stage and received the reaction of a rolling of the eyes by the judges when he announced he was singing opera. When he started to sing, his god self took over and was displayed in it’s finest form for all to witness. I immediately started to tear up and recognized that I was experiencing and connecting with the god within this man. If you watch the crowd you can see others wiping tears away.

This is a perfect example of Paul Pott’s god self in action. Can you feel it?

First of all let me give you a little background. I had a spiritual awakening of my own in 2000 when my estranged wife died leaving me with 3 teenagers. It was a pretty traumatic time for all of us because she didn’t die of natural causes. Her death also revealed that she was leading a secret life away from the home that none of us knew about until she died.

There was lots of details I found out that made me pretty wild with anger and really shook me to the core. Then in one instant, a few days after she died, when the whole family had basically decided that we wouldn’t even attend the funeral, I was hit between the eyes with a realization of how I and we were acting. My perspective completely changed and I convinced everyone that I was wrong in reacting with anger. I got them all to look at the past happenings from my new perspective of love and forgiveness. I won’t go into any more details as this blog isn’t about me it’s about Paris Hilton. Suffice it so say we all went to the funeral and I got up and spoke about the positive things she had done and all was, well kind of, well.

From there I was a totally new person. Everything changed in my life. My priorities were turned totally upside down. I devoured anything to do with spirit or god or love. I used to be all about sports and business and competition. All the “normal” things guys are usually into.

My diet changed. My habits changed. My attitude toward everything was totally slanted to a perspective of love for all things. I totally cleaned house, literally, throwing stuff out, giving things away, not feeling any value in “stuff”. I had a burning desire to rid myself of any attachments. All I wanted to do was to help humanity get to what I believed and believe is the next step in human evolution. A complete change of priorities.

Pretty weird huh? Sound familiar? Seems like Paris said similar things to Barbara Walters a few days into her return to prison.

I believe that we all are, have, or will go through a “spiritual awakening.” I believe we will change our attitudes from make money , amass stuff , beat the competition, win at all costs, every man for himself and he’s not the same skin color so he isn’t as good or doesn’t belong, to one of unity, integrity and love. We’ll quit chasing the almighty dollar to pay for the things we “think” we need while sacrificing the things that can really fulfill us and give us enjoyment. Isn’t life meant to be enjoyable?

I know that it is in times of extreme chaos and trauma that our true selves come out. Whether it’s the death of a loved one, a car accident, a disease diagnosis, a relationship break-up, or a person like Paris Hilton going to jail. It’s these times of extreme shake up that we stop and examine our lives and ask the questions of why we do things and what is it all about. We examine our priorities and usually take a hard honest look at ourselves. This self examination is going on daily in the world but mostly without the media frenzy that Paris Hilton is experiencing.

I have never paid much attention to Paris Hilton or celebrity stories of any kind. I don’t even have a TV but just happened to be at a restaurant when I saw her in the car getting hauled back to jail and she was crying uncontrollably, not caring who was looking and how she looked. I knew that she was being shaken to the soul. Then, when I heard about the Barbara Walters phone call with her I knew that she was going through a spiritual awakening.

Now, of course I could be wrong. And I am sure I am in the minority of people who believe that she was sincere in what she said. Likely most considered it an act and when she gets out she’ll be the same spoiled rich kid but I’m not most. I believe that she will be a totally new person. I guess as they say time will tell and some will say “who cares”. I do. I look for these things that validate to me that humanity is changing. I see it every day in every facet of society. We are changing. It’s easy to just look at the “negative” items in the news but there is lots of examples that I could give you to show you that it is happening. It’s happening in our lifetime. It’s happening to people every day.

She’ll be out Sunday or Monday (June/07) and I say Way to go Paris! You go girl! I’m cheering for you! Surprise the world. Be an example of the good things that can come from the “bad” experiences in life. Show all the cynics that you really did have a spiritual awakening. I’ve heard she’ll be interviewed by Larry King when she gets out. May be interesting to listen to her words. Of course talk is cheap and her actions in the coming months will reveal more of the truth but I am betting we will see a new Paris Hilton.

Let me be one of the first to welcome you, Paris Hilton, to a new life in the next age.

Update : Well that was over a year ago now and she still hasn’t proven me wrong. You don’t see her getting the media attention because she is a changed person. I like to think, an enlightened one.

Right on schedule! Time to wake up. Oil hit $140 US a barrel today (June 28/08). Food prices hitting all time highs and going higher with the price of gas. Hot topics. Attacking the basics. Food has always been a basic. Gas seems to have become a basic. No, I am not going to talk world economics. This site is about how we are creating a new earth. New human behavior. Experiencing a spiritual awakening. The great shift for humanity to the next level of consciousness. What are these massive price increases doing? They are forcing us to examine our priorities. Changing. Evolving. Right on schedule.

I am constantly looking for signs that we are changing. World events such as these topics when examined from my perspective have a deeper purpose. The two basic elements for us to evolve are self-examination and change. Money plays such a huge role in our behavior so with the price of the basics increasing we are examining how we live and what’s important. It doesn’t matter how we bring about the shift, it only matters that we are.

These events are just a piece of the puzzle on our journey to unity consciousness. The return to a simplified life where we are not madly chasing after everything and wanting products that come from thousands of miles away. The whole system of economics, food distribution and energy sources may be at a point where everything changes. We may be forced to change. We have had it pretty good in North America compared to many parts of the world where $6 or $7 gas has been a reality for a while.

We have taken for granted that we can get whatever we want, wherever it is. Jumping in our fossil fueled vehicles and using our hard worked for money to buy “stuff.” The cycle of working more, to have more money, to buy more things. Stuff that we think will make our lives better or easier or happier. The price of gas and the cost of food are forcing us to examine our lives. This examination is the beginning of a chain reaction to lead us to the ultimate realization that we really “need” very little to enjoy a happy fulfilling human experience. That’s a positive. That’s enlightenment.

Using fossil fuels for energy is the old way. The cost to get the oil along with the affect on the atmosphere from burning it is has been well publicized. There has to be another way. I always look to nature for solutions to any need we may have. Mother earth has it. We just need to trust that it will be provided. There is so much energy in nature that the answers are there for us. Using nature’s sources like the sun, the ocean tides, the wind and the most abundant element in the universe – hydrogen, and if we directed a fraction of the resources that we direct to oil recovery we could and will have all the energy we could ever need. The price and the damaging effects of using oil will also work to speed up the conversion natural reoccurring energy sources. Our planet will become energy enlightened. And that’s a positive.

These changes are all positive. They are pointing us into a path of mass change in human behavior. The change that I have repeatedly discussed on this site. I know. You’re saying this guy’s a wacky, new age, rose colored glassed, flower child that has no grip on reality. He thinks the price of gas at $5 a gallon is positive.

Yep, I do.

Let’s see. If the Mayans were right, and they were enlightened beings, 2012 and it’s 2008. Yes, it’s time to really shake things up. Time to wake up from our 6000 year sleep. If there is such a thing as a schedule, We’re right on it.
